Six rules everyone agrees to
Safety first, always
No task that risks a young worker’s safety — no heights, no dangerous tools or chemicals for under-16s, nothing illegal, ever.
Respect everyone
No harassment, bullying, discrimination or intimidating behaviour. Treat workers and customers as neighbours.
Keep chat on-platform
All communication stays in TaskLink messages. Don’t share or ask for phone numbers, emails or addresses.
Pay through TaskLink
Never pay or accept payment off-platform. Held payments and receipts protect both sides.
No unsafe job requests
Posting a task that breaks the age rules or asks for something risky gets the listing removed.
Guardians stay informed
For under-16s, a parent or guardian approves the account and can see jobs and messages.
Exactly which jobs each age can see
The platform filters automatically. Younger workers never even see the heavier list.
- Tidying & organising — Sorting rooms, decluttering, folding, making spaces neat.
- Basic cleaning — Dusting, hoovering, wiping surfaces — no harsh chemicals.
- Leaf clearing & raking — Raking leaves, sweeping paths, bagging up garden waste.
- Weeding — Hand-pulling weeds from borders, paths, gravel and pots.
- Car washing — Hand-washing the outside of a car with a hose, sponge and bucket.
- Window cleaning (ground floor) — Cleaning ground-floor windows inside and out. No ladders.
- Plant & garden watering — Watering pots, beds, hanging baskets and greenhouses; deadheading.
- Bin & recycling help — Bringing bins out and back, sorting recycling.
- Pet care — Dog walks around the block, feeding, litter trays, company.
- Litter picking — Tidying litter from a street, park or communal area with a picker and bag.
- Snow & path clearing — Shovelling snow and gritting paths, steps and driveways in winter.
- Simple errands — Corner-shop runs, posting letters, collecting a parcel.
- Leaflet & flyer delivery — Posting leaflets or newsletters through doors on a local round.
- Company & conversation — Visiting an older neighbour for a chat, a cuppa, a board game or a short walk.
- Tech help — Setting up a phone or tablet, showing someone how to video-call, printer and wifi niggles.
No heavy lifting · no power tools · no chemicals · no heights.
- Moving & lifting — Carrying boxes, shifting furniture, loading a van.
- Deep cleaning — Ovens, bathrooms, end-of-tenancy — stronger products.
- Garden machinery — Mowing, strimming, powered tools.
- Hedge trimming — Cutting and shaping hedges with powered or long-handled trimmers.
- Pressure washing — Driveways, patios, decking, wheelie bins.
- Gutter clearing — Clearing leaves and moss from gutters and downpipes. Ladder work.
- Painting & decorating — Walls, ceilings, fences and sheds. Solvent paints and step ladders.
- Flat-pack assembly — Building flat-pack furniture, shelving, wardrobes and trampolines with tools.
- Garden clearance — Clearing overgrown beds, brambles, shrubs and roots with loppers and shears.
- Digging & landscaping — Turning soil, digging beds, laying turf, shifting bark and gravel.
- Waste & rubbish removal — Bagging up garden or household waste and taking it to the recycling centre.
- House & loft clearance — Clearing out a garage, loft or spare room. Heavier items and loft ladders.
Still requires safety notes and the right equipment for every job.
Safety, in detail
Light jobs only: tidying and organising, basic cleaning (no harsh chemicals), leaf pickup and light garden work by hand, bringing bins out and back, pet care like local dog walks and feeding, and simple errands such as a corner-shop run. Nothing with heavy lifting, powered tools, chemicals, heights, or anything that could put them at risk.
